This means that you will become an Unlisted member of HivePals. Your profile will not turn up in a Search. The only way someone can find you is if you give them your username and your Friend Code, a password that you set below. See the Privacy portion of our FAQ for more details.
This applies only if you have elected to be removed from the eDirectory (i.e. become unlisted). The Friend Code is a password you set here. If you give someone your username and Friend Code, they can use the "Find the Unlisted" feature in MyHive to easily pull up your Profile.
Sharing your age is a great way to embrace the spirit of openness at HivePals.
You should provide this if you plan on exchanging your real phone number to selected friends on HivePals.
This is required to match you up to people who are located close enough to meet face-to-face. You need not provide your exact street address unless you plan on exchanging your real address with someone through the HivePals feedback system.
You can't be coy on this one if you're going to be meeting people face-to-face!
People are going to be specific in their search for either married or single friends, just because they want pals who share their same outlook on life. By providing this information, you help us provide a better match with people whose needs coincide with your profile.
There are three Blush Levels - Big Blush, Small Blush and No Blush. Your choice informs others a little about who you are, and helps them gauge their appropriate behavior when they meet you.
I am fairly old fashioned, and I'm easily shocked.
I go with the flow, and I'm not easily shocked.
Nothing shocks me.
In addition, HivePals uses your Blush Level setting to minimize your exposure to hiveblogs that you may find objectionable. There are three different categories of hiveblogs:
Can't possibly offend anyone
(Available to all Blush Levels)
May offend some people
(Available to Small Blush and No Blush only)
Likely to offend most people
(Available to No Blush only)
This will be displayed on your Public Profile so that other members can decide if you are geographically close enough to invite for social gatherings.
If you are part of a couple using HivePals to find and meet new friends together, it makes sense to connect your profiles online.

To create your own LinkedIn Public Profile URL and retrieve it, log in to your LinkedIn account. Click "Edit My Profile" from the left-side navigation bar. The last element of the light-blue box is your Public Profile. Click [Edit] to modify the default URL if you wish.
To retrieve your public profile URL on Facebook, log in to your Facebook account. Click Profile from the top navigation bar. Copy the website address from your browser to your clipboard (for example by clicking in the address bar, selecting all, right-clicking and selecting Copy). Then log out from your Facebook account (yes, really!), and finally paste in the address bar the URL you just copied. The address bar will refresh to a new address which is your public profile URL.
An email address can only be used once, and cannot be used to open multiple or subsequent accounts.
The photo can be of any dimension, but the file size must be less than 1MB.
Preferred file formats are JPG, GIF and PNG.
JavaScript must be actived in your browser.
If you need help resizing your photos, these are two websites where you can upload your photo and obtain a quick resize fairly quickly ie about 30-40 seconds if you have a fast internet connection - http://www.shrinkpictures.com and http://www.resize2mail.com (the second one is good for cropping a face from a photo).
Quick tip: We've found that if you start with a typical camera jpg file that's roughly 2,600 kb in size, you should choose a target size of 1000 pixels on www.shrinkpictures.com in order to obtain a jpg file that's less than 1MB in size. If you prefer to crop a photo using www.resize2mail.com, we had good results by choosing a portrait target size of 540 x 720, but you may need to do some trial and error depending on the size of your cropped area relative to the entire photo.
